Tuesday, February 9, 2010 (2010-02-09) Only Madison high school athletic competitions at La Follette High School, Beloit Memorial, Janesville Craig, Oregon High School and Hartmeyer Ice Arena are postponed. All other Madison School District and MSCR activities will be held as scheduled.
The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is committed to matching K-12 students with appropriately challenging learning opportunities while strengthening students' sense of belonging in a class. Inherent in that commitment is recognition of the unique abilities, talents, interests, and learning needs of talented and gifted students who require special educational considerations.
MMSD meets most talented and gifted students' needs through differentiation in the regular classroom. The Talented and Gifted Division's Resource Teachers facilitate professional development for classroom teachers as they work with academically diverse learners--honoring each student's learning needs and maximizing each student's learning capacity.
Students functioning about two to three years above grade level may require services beyond the scope of the regular differentiated classroom curriculum. These services may include subject or grade acceleration, individualized instruction, or dual enrollment. These opportunities are planned and facilitated through an Individualized Student Educational Plan (In-STEP).
